How Can Counselling Help You?
At times we can struggle to cope with what life brings. Counselling can offer you the space to work through personal issues in a safe, supportive and confidential environment. Discovering what is important for you as an individual and learning to identify and use your inner resources to cope in times of stress, anxiety, bereavement, depression and emotional upheaval such as divorce, redundancy or retirement are just a few of the benefits of counselling. Often just talking through a traumatic experience with another person can be incredibly therapeutic. This can help you to come to terms with your experiences and move forward. About Me - I am a fully qaulified & experienced integrative counsellor. As well as my private practice in Long Melford Suffolk I also run a practice in a local school counselling 11 to 18 year old students and work as Child and Family Practitioner at CARA (Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse) for children 11 years and under.
How I work - I do my best to work in ways which will suit individual clients. Combining talking therapy and solution focused therapy such as CBT can help to resolve personal issues and or unhelpful patterns of behaviour or thinking.
Some people like to express themselves in creative ways, so I also use art materials and imagery if this suits particular clients needs. Neuroscientists research has proven that play and art therapy can promote recovery from trauma.
Therapeutic play using figures, dolls and sand can be introduced to help people to express themselves. This is particularly helpful for younger clients or if talking is problematic.
